Where Creativity
Meets Commerce
Located at 248 Cabot Street, The Bower is a multi-disciplinary arts complex that serves as a cornerstone of the North Shore’s creative economy. Spanning three floors and 36,000 square feet, this facility is more than just a building—it is a vibrant incubator where students, faculty, visiting artists, and local entrepreneurs flourish side-by-side.
A Space for Every Maker
The Bower is designed to support the entire lifecycle of a creative career, from initial spark to professional enterprise:
- The Artist’s Sanctuary: The top floor houses over thirty affordable artist studios, curated galleries, and communal lounges designed to foster organic connection among makers.
- The Entrepreneurial Hub: The first floor serves as a bridge to the community, featuring administrative offices for local nonprofits—including Beverly Main Streets and The Cabot—and dedicated spaces for creative business ventures.
- The Performance Center: The lower level offers a flexible, high-energy venue for concerts, dance, theatrical performances, and community-wide events.
Empowering the Next Generation
In partnership with Montserrat’s Center for Career Design and Creative Enterprise, The Bower acts as a real-world laboratory. Here, students don’t just study art; they operate it. Through student-led advertising agencies, design firms, and production companies, The Bower provides a front-row seat to the business of creativity.
Our Mission
As an extension of Montserrat College of Art, The Bower is dedicated to fostering a diverse and sustainable arts ecosystem. By bringing together established organizations and innovative startups under one roof, we are transforming Beverly into a regional leader in the arts economy and providing a home for the North Shore’s creative spirit.
